Amasya The city of Shahzadahs

amasya 

Amasya is a city where most of The Ottoman Princes were the Governors of it. The six of the princes who had been the Governors of the city became the Ottoman Padishahs.

THE SHAHZADAHS WHO HAD BEEN THE GOVERNORS IN AMASYA

Shahzadah Bayezid (Yıldırım Bayezid): 1386

Shahzadah Çelebi Mehmet (1st Mehmet): 1389-1402 1403-1423

Shahzadah Murad (2nd Murad):1415 - 1421

Shahzadah Ahmet Çelebi: 1435

Shahzadah Mehmed (Fatih Sultan Mehmet): 1438

Shahzadah Alaeddin:1442

Shahzadah Bayezid (2nd Bayezid): 1454-1481

Shahzadah Ahmed: 1481-1511

Shahzadah Murad: 1511-1512

Shahzadah Mustafa: 1540-1553

Shahzadah Bayezid: 1557-1558

Shahzadah Murad (3rd Murad): 1566
 

THE SHAHZADAHS WHO BECAME PADISHAH LATER
 

YILDIRIM BAYEZİD

Yıldırım Bayezid, who was the son of 1st Murat, took Amasya into the border of ottoman in 1386, and was appointed as the Governor of Amasya in 1389. In the same year, he was invited to the Ottoman throne.

ÇELEBİ MEHMET

Çelebi Mehmet, who was the son of Yıldırım Bayezid, was appointed as the Governor of Amasya after his father. He succeeded the Ottoman unity with his talented administration style after the defeat to Timur during the Ankara War in 1402.

2ND MURAD

He was born in Amasya in 1404. He was appointed as the Governor of Amasya when he was 11 years old. He was invited to the throne after his father died in 1421.

FATİH SULTAN MEHMET

After his brother, Shahzadah Ahmet died when he was the Governor of Amasya, (1438) Shahzadah Mehmet was appointed to his place, and continued that duty about one year.

SULTAN 2ND BAYEZİD

After Shahzadah Bayezid, who was appointed as the Governor of Amasya when he was 7, stayed at this duty for 27 years, he became the Padishah of Ottoman in 1481.

3RD MURAD

He was the son of 2nd Selim. He was appointed as the Governor of Amasya in 1566, and stayed at this duty for about one year. He was the last Shahzadah who became the Governor of Amasya.

YAVUZ SULTAN SELİM (1ST SELİM)

He was the son of Shahzadah Bayezid (2nd Bayezid) who had been the Governor of Amasya.. He was born in the Amasya Palace in 1470, and he was educated in Amasya near his father until he was 11 years old, and then he was appointed as the Governor of Trabzon in 1481.

SHAHZADAH MUSTAFA

Shahzadah Mustafa was the Governor of Amasya between the years 1540-1553, he was educated as the crown prince. Shahzadah Mustafa, who was loved by Amasya people, was died in 1553 by choking.

Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods. With Hazeranlar Museum House and King Rock Tombs in addition to these artifacts, it plays an important role in the culture and the tourism of our country as the most modern museum of the region.

Open Air Exhibition (garden)

Stone structures of Hittitie, Helenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Ilhanlı, Seljuk and Ottoman periods are displayed in the garden to the west of the museum.

Mummies

Mummies in our museum are displayed in the tomb of Seljuk Sultan I. Mesud in the garden of the museum.

There are eight mummies. Thought to be İşbuğa Nuyin, Cumudar İzzettin Mehmet, Pervane Bey, his wife and his sons and daughters, the mummies belong to the people who were once on duty as Nazır and Emir when İlhanlı State was the ruling power in Anatolia in the 14th century.
