Mövenpick Hotel opens doors in İzmir
Mövenpick Hotel İzmir General Manager Alain Rigazzi has announced that the Swiss chain’s renowned brand of hospitality is now available to travelers and business people in Izmir with the opening of Mövenpick’s third branch in Turkey.
At a press conference for the hotel’s opening yesterday, Rigazzi said that at present 145 of the hotel’s 185 rooms were being used and the hotel would continue to operate at this limited capacity until the Marble 2008 Fair in late March. “This is our third hotel in Turkey, after [our other hotels in] İstanbul and Bodrum. Another will be opened in Ankara. İzmir is a popular destination — we are happy with our location in here. We will be hosting our guests starting today, but our entire product range will be available at a later stage, and we’ll offer special rates because of the opening,” he said.
Mövenpick Hotel İzmir was opened following the renovation of the Mercure Hotel in İzmir’s Republic Square, acquired by İzmir’s Özkardeş family from the Oyak Group, and is designed especially for business people. There are nine conference halls in the hotel, which employs 120 people.
