COSMETICS & TOILETRIES INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
Establishment & Operation
 
Cosmetics and Toiletries Industry Association (CTIA) has been established in 1993 and is continuing its activities at the address below, which is shared with the Soaps and Detergents Industry Association (SDIA):

The Association holds monthly Board Meetings and Technical Committee meetings. The Technical Committee and the Joint Working Group (JWG) meetings founded with the Ministry of Health / Drugs & Pharmaceuticals DG are being held more frequently due to the EU harmonization studies. The Association has undertaken many successful activities domestically and abroad. CTIA is an associate member of COLIPA due to their statue, since Turkey is not yet a member of the EU. COLIPA has committees working in various fields of interest to the industry. CTIA representatives have started to participate in committees, especially in the Central and Eastern Europe Countries (CEEC) project team in order to bring the local legislation in line with EU, and carried out several activities with COLIPA assistance, especially after Turkey has been accepted as a candidate member for the EU at Helsinki.
 Objectives
 
KTMD is acting as a coordinator between the several branches of the governmental bureaucracy (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry & Trade, Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry on Foreign Trade, and the Ministry of Forestry & Environment, etc.), member companies and the Industry Association in Europe, COLIPA. Our objective is to establish the solidarity within the Cosmetics Products Industry in Turkey, to enable follow-up of the recent developments locally and world-wide, to enable the adaptability to technical developments, and to simplify and accelerate solutions to the obstacles and problems facing the Industry.

Our vision is to become the
“voice of the industry,
guarantee for the consumer,
and reference for the society”.

KTMD ‘s objectives are as follolws:

• To be of assistance to the development of the cosmetic industry and a solution to their problems, while contributing in efforts to uphold and improve the human and environmental health.

• To inform our member companies about the import-export requests, partnership and cooperation proposals, received from third parties and otherwise coming to the attention of our Association.

• To organize or otherwise take part in activities and events with the aim to increase the prestige of the cosmetic and toiletries industry in Turkey.

• To convey the information received by the CTIA on seminars, fairs and meetings to our member companies and related bodies of the industry for their advantage and participation.

• To voice and discuss the general matters of the cosmetic industry with official and private bodies in order to resolve the issues in a manner favorable to the industry.

• To cooperate with relevant competent authorities and private organizations on the preparation and improvement of the legislation concerning the cosmetics industry.

• To establish relations with universities and their research institutes for the scientific development of the local industry sector.

• To monitor the scientific and technical developments concerning environmental and human health, and inform the membership about the positive outcome of such developments.

• To organize seminars, conferences and workshops to benefit the membership information requirements and needs.

• To attend COLIPA meetings and work groups, and to pass the gathered information to members and local authorities to produce training opportunities for the bureaucracy and the member firms.

• To work on Directives concerning the sector in accordance with the EU harmonization efforts, to cooperate with and to join the work groups of the leading industrial organizations in the effort to harmonize the Turkish legislation with that of the EU.
